International benchmarking is done in different unions with top universities worldwide - the basic ideas being the internationalizing of studies and the export of German university structures, the faculty-cooperations in key technologies and the exchange of international expertens.
A further step in this direction was taken by the cooperation with the VTU-Bangalore.

The IKA (Institute for Automotive In-dustries) at the RWTH Aachen has counted for over 100 years to the most established research institutes in the automotive industries.

A new Automotive Research & Development Center (CASIE) is now planned together with VTU Bangalore for the Asiatic area.

The Institute for Machine Elements and
Design (IME) is also a project partner of IGIT.
This cooperation does not only care for a wide exchange of experience with other Research Institutes but also for product improvements and new developments as is shown with the pro-ject RoboType!

The Institute for Welding & Adhesion Techniques (ISF) at RWTH Aachen has been engaged with modern welding technologies for more than 50 years.

Main focus is directed to basic process analysis and turning the conclusions into further and new developments of welding technologies especially referring to increasing the efficiency and improving the economics..

Reearch has a long tradition at the University of Applied Sciences Juelich. Today's Solar Institute Juelich grew from a small group of researchers in solar techniques.

A special focus is on the cooperation with SMEs as well as with international universities. Two projects are planned together with the IGIT-Institute at VTU Bangalore: Solar Techniques and Energy Production from regenerative sources.

Tribology, the science of wear, friction and lubrication, is part of the faculty Polymer Techniques and Machine Engineering.

The introduction of the first Tribology Laboratory in the Asiatic area was at the same time the first Project of the Indo German Institute of Technologies at VTU, Bangalore.

The Laboratory for Machine Tools and Betriebslehre der RWTH Aachen WZL stands for innovation in production engineering.

A new patented method to produce air bearings without machining is being tested for productivity in cooperation with enterprises in India.

The university supports also SMEs for the new key and future technologies.

One example is the Nano Technology: absolutely new technologies are used to produce structures in the area of under one thousandth millimeter, i.e. on the level of molecules and atoms structures which organize themselves producing micro coatings and new elements.

Another example is the "Lotus-Effect"making self-cleaning surfaces. Like the Nano Technology distributes through all sciences, there are six scientists in the new institute "iNano" of different faculties working interdisciplinear and at the same time for similar targets.

An actual example is the Indo German Institute of Technologies -IGIT- at VTU, Bangalore.

The Indo-German Office - NRW forms the platform betweeen enterprises, universities and institutes on German and Indian sides.

The Office is with the Economical Development Co. of the Rhine County Neuss.

The Rhine County Neuss counts with 450.000 inhabitants to the largest counties of Germany. There are over 8 million people living in this Euro-pean industrial center in a radius of 25 km.

The German economy offers a wide potential as cooperation partner of developemnt. Chambers, Federations and Eduction institutes are experts for support of industries, vocational training, development of organisations and transfer of technologies.

ITheir members engage in development and transformation countries thus playing a develop-ment role with investments and transfer of Know How.

SEQUA mobilizes this potential for projects and programmes of international cooperation being a consulting center for the German economy for problems of project support and implementation.

The Foreign Chamber of Commerce AHK INDIA was founded in 1956 as a service organisation to support the Indo German economical relations.

IGCC cooperates with Chambers of Commerce and is connected in organisation with the Foreign Chamber of Commerce AHK India.

6,500 members make IGCC the member-strongest German foreign Chamber of Commerce and at the same time one of the largest economical organisations in India.

IGCC has its main bureau in Mumbai with affiliations in the industrial metroplis Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore as well as in New Delhi (with government connections).

The connection bureau in Duesseldorf cares for the German members.
